The Coffee Barn

Our history in short:

We started bringing roasted coffee from El Salvador for ourselves and some friends. After a while, it came to a point where it wasn’t feasible because in order to get freight costs down we had to order a bigger quantity which then got old before it sold. In 2019, our options seemed to be to quit or to get a roaster. We went with the option of investing in a roaster and equipment.

Since November 2019, we roast fresh coffee weekly in small batches (10-12 lbs). Freshness is a high priority for us and we try to work with retailers to keep a fresh inventory too.

Our beans come from El Salvador, generally grown at an altitude of 3600+ feet. The beans are hand-picked and processed. Before shipping, they are thoroughly hand sorted for very top quality. Having roasted coffee from about 12 countries, I have never found cleaner beans. (For some it might make a difference that the funds gained from processing the coffee are all used to run an orphanage.)

In 2021, when we ran short in supply of El Salvador beans, we got some beans from Guatemala and liked them, especially for our flavored coffees. Some people prefer the Guatemala beans, so we have both options available now.

We are family owned and operated. We are located in Blue Creek, Orange Walk on a small farm.

We also have family operating The Coffee Barn in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, USA since 2017. This is where I gained my first roasting experience.
